Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ACES)

ACES is an independent provider of NHS eye care outpatient and surgical services that are delivered in the community.  Working with state of the art technologies, we support the NHS, providing patients with the highest standards of clinical care. We provide a range of services including: Cataract, YAG Laser Treatment, Glaucoma, Oculoplastics and General Ophthalmology.

As an Ophthalmic Advanced Nurse Practitioner at ACES, you will play a crucial role in the provision of outstanding outpatient clinic activities including minor operations, general ophthalmology and cataract surgery pre-assessments. You will work collaboratively with our team of ophthalmologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of comprehensive eye care services.

Your role will include:

• Undertaking pre and post-operative consultations for our cataract surgery patients.
• Conduct thorough assessments of patients presenting with various ophthalmic conditions.
• Providing clinical support to our ophthalmologists in general and oculoplastic clinics.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and OCT scans.
• Formulate and implement individualised care plans, including treatment and follow-up.
• Perform preoperative assessments for patients scheduled for cataract surgery.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure optimal patient preparation and coordination.
• Educate patients on preoperative and postoperative care instructions.

The ideal candidate will:

• Registered Nurse with Advanced Nurse Practitioner certification.
• Current NMC registration
• Advanced training and certification in ophthalmic nursing.
• Proven experience in outpatient clinic activities and cataract surgery pre-assessment.
• Strong clinical and diagnostic skills in ophthalmology.
• Be passionate about delivering excellent patient care.
• Be articulate, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be confident and organised.
• Be happy to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Flexible working available to include full and part time opportunities.

Your role will be similar to that of a hospital Ophthalmic Advanced Nurse Practitioner, undertaken in a community setting, in a modern clinic, working with state of the art technology.
